Buy Pepper Spray, Actually Practice Using It, Be Ready Mentally
Carry the real thing, but Buy An Inert Can For Practice. I have been sprayed with all but the newest synthetic stuff, and my sister had a friend who saved her own life by spraying a would-be bank robber who had fired a shot past her head.

I remember when my girlfriend back in 2006 was about to go to NYC for school, I bought her a can just in case. We went outside and tested it.
I have like 4 cans of this stuff...but then again I'm hypervigilent. I like to carry it on our walks, because I always worry a dog will jump the fence and get into it with my dog, I don't want either dog hurt, so if either started acting aggressively, they would be sprayed. It's much better then bite wounds.
She's using Sabre brand pepper spray, that stuff is hard to work, I use the MACE brand pepper spray, it has a nice safe, easy trigger to it.

Good news to have at hand. I've certainly thought about it at times, but now that I'm truly single it's probably a good thing to have on hand. Will work with one of my Marine friends and have him help pick it out and learn how to use it. Thanks...

on a not serious note, why isn't there a salt and pepper spray i can use when i'm cooking?
