I am shocked and appalled.

Yeah, the courts ruled that the first amendment has to be practiced in an area that isn't bothersome to the people being picketed. This likely makes it easier for CNN & Fox to avoid the picketing people behind the fence with their cameras too, 'cause nobody wants to see that... and they don't really want to talk about it either.
It's a barrage, with unconstitutional court rulings, executive orders, assault on freedoms on all fronts, and our media offers the distraction of the latest "lone gunman" while pounding the drum of disarmament, as fast and furiously as they can.
If we're unaware, like the frog in cold pan of water slowly coming to a boil, it's because we are playing by the rules of the opposition, and those rules dictate we remain unaware of the boil setting. "Wake up" seems overdone to say the least. Maybe it should be. "Are you alive?"
I already knew about this, and it is scary where we are headed. What is even MUCH WORSE is the fact that it is happening right under our noses and the sleeping masses do not care at all.

Doesn't seem new to me but it does expand previous law. Two of my friends were arrested, jailed and did escape conviction years ago when Nixon was visiting our campus. I couldn't enter a student center to get to a bus stop because of restrictions when Reagan was on campus. Nothing new, but an expansion of the restrictions on where one can protest. On visits I have observed the restricted area is blocks away from where presidents have been while in town. It does not restrict the right to speak one's mind but where one can do it. By the way, while Fox calls it Obama's action, please note that the bill had ample support from Republicans and Democrats.

Freedom of speech is EEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! It trashes us out. It's a trap, freedom of confession. I think the other Bush was the one that made that happen. I don't think it was a good idea. Nobody knows what to say, what's okay to say, and we're disorganized in many ways.
@vexations - I like the fact you pointed out the bi-partisian support by both freaks of nature parties.
I gotta wonder if free speech has always just been an illusion. For our entire history, people were beaten up, blacklisted, discounted, ridiculed, slandered, and even killed for speaking up. I also remember people saying "it's a free country" just before they said or did something stupid, back in the nineties, but that's the only time I remember speech being truly free. I will continue to use my free speech, because there are no courts, no jurisdictions, no legislations that can chain my soul.
Obama doesn't want people protesting him. Simple as that.
What has America become?I've never put much faith in protesting, since nobody ever really listens to the protesters to begin with. That being said, this is a bit overboard for security.

@lonelywanderer2 - Fox does it too, though, when it suits their agenda. They are just as guilty of leading the sleeping sheep to slaughter as the Communist News Network is.
It's so annoying when people start worrying about their "rights" and "freedom". Just relax and let the trustworthy politicians handle things. They have our best interest in mind, so let them do their thing.

This makes me so very ready for Obama to be gone.
I love the people that think this is a good reason to vote against Obama. Bush set a precedent on this years ago, and Mitt Romney shows every sign of continuing pretty much everything Bush did.
I know I wasn't allowed anywhere near the RNC in '08 with protesters. Let's face it, this isn't an Obama problem, this is an executive privilege issue. It's a basic rule in politics: you don't voluntarily give up power once given it. Obama inherited a slough of extra executive rights from W, and he won't give them up when he thinks he's doing what's right. In some cases (ex: repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell) I'm glad he has the power. In cases like this, it's obvious that he shouldn't have it.
We can't argue for it when it's in our favor and against it when it's not. The Presidency in general needs to be weakened. On a similar note, the Senate filibuster rule needs to be amended, otherwise nothing will EVER get done.

@crazy2love - I just added another one that is not from FOX News. I do not consider myself Republican or Democrat. I'm just an American who wants Americans to live as free people. This is not a left or right issue. This is a rights issue. LINK
