Animals are just unpredictable. The owner should have to pay dearly for this horrible event.
City or country- all dogs needs to be on a leash, when around other people.
how terrible. it's horrible, and the dog should have been taken by authorities and put down. hopefully, the owner will be charged for the attack and pay for her medical bills and psychological treatment.
That dog should be put down. Too dangerous to take a chance that it could happen again.
The owner should be jailed for 10 years+ and never be allowed to own a dog again. Very odd behavior for a dog to randomly attack like that.
That is really weird. The dog should be killed, but studied first. Maybe it's a disease that caused the dog to act that way in the first place.
The mom was pretty pathetic though. It makes me wonder if she would be just as ineffective if a human were coming after her child.
I think the dog may have been like a person. The child may have ignored it earlier when it came up and - creatures of habit - anyone hates to be ignored and sometimes goes to lethal lengths to get attention at that point.
I would check to see if the little girl had some type of edible item a dog might find palatable like beef jerky or something. The owner should really be be in a peck bit of trouble for this tho, and yes - definitely off the leash.
Pretty sure the dog was acting up first and the owner said, what's that ? You smell something ? You want something and THEN takes the dog off the leash to see what is up.
The dog could've also been trained in this respect by a training school or something and that should be taken into consideration in the dog's defense and the owner's persecution.
Other witnesses would know whether the dog was on a leash prior to the attack which could also hold a bearing in the case.
Very glad someone was there to harness the dog.

This is when concealed carry would have made a difference... at least for mothers who have a quicker reaction time than this woman.
